Laureus World Sports Awards, the world’s most prestigious global sports awards ceremony, has appointed sport and entertainment consultancy, Clifford French, to implement a UK communications and influencer campaign.

The sport and entertainment agency won a competitive pitch to develop a four-month campaign with a focus on reaching new audiences around the Awards and spreading the word about the inspirational work of Laureus Sport for Good.

Clifford French will develop an earned media campaign that focuses on Laureus and their aim to celebrate the power sport has in bringing people together as a force for good.  The 2018 Laureus World Sports Awards, held in Monaco on 27 February, will celebrate sport in eight main categories;

  1. The Laureus World Sportsman of the Year
  2. The Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year
  3. The Laureus World Team of the Year
  4. The Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year
  5. The Laureus World Comeback of the Year
  6. The Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year
  7. The Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability
  8. The Laureus Best Sporting Moment of the Year

The Awards showcase the work of Laureus Sport for Good, a charity which supports over 100 sport for development programmes in 35 countries. Laureus Sport for Good’s vision is to use the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage, proving that sport can change the world.

Clifford French co-founder, Dan French, said of the announcement: “The 2018 Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco is the premier global sports awards honouring the greatest sportsmen and women across all sports each year.”

French added: “Along with the prestigious Awards, what really excited us about this campaign was the opportunity to tell the incredible, transformational stories at the heart of the organisation and the programmes it supports through Laureus Sport for Good.”
