About Ian Stafford

Ian StaffordIan, a former Sports Reporter and Magazine Writer of the Year, currently writes for The Mail on Sunday, Live, and a host of national and international publications. He has written 14 sports books, many detailing his misadventures in the world of sport. These include the international best-selling “Playgrounds of the Gods” and “In Search of the Tiger,” as well as “In Your Dreams” and “Who Do You Think You Are - Michael Schumacher?”

 

He spends his time covering the globe’s best sports events and talking to the greatest exponents of sport in the world, as well as often having a go himself. In a whole catalogue of experiences Ian has boxed against Roy Jones junior, played cricket for and against Australia, been a reserve for the Springboks, played football for Everton, rugby union for the Leicester Tigers, and rugby league for Wigan. He has trekked to the North Pole, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, ran with the Olympic torch, completed the Cresta Run, run with the Bulls in Pamplona and played ice golf on the Arctic Ocean, to name just a few.

Ian is also a familiar voice on Radio Five Live, has written and narrated sports documentaries for Radio 4, and makes many TV appearances on BBC Sport, Channel 4 and Sky.
