Funny old night in Canary Wharf last night where Sportsvibe witnessed the official launch of round the world sailor Alex Thomson's latest boat, "Hugo Boss," by Hollywood actress Diane Kruger, of Troy, National Treasure and Inglorious Bastards fame. Mark Foster turned up in his trademark stripey jacket and thin jeans, although he wasn't quite sure who Diane Kruger was, while old Sportsvibe friend David Coulthard was there as well on compering duties. He seemed very grateful when I gave him the following line ... "As Helen of Troy in the movie epic "Troy" you had a face to launch a thousand ships, Diane. Well, tonight it will be easy as you've only got one to launch." He repeated this on board Hugo Boss just before the champagne was opened and the boat launched although it didn't quite have the impact we both hoped it would. Besides, DC in his inimitable way, was more interested in how Alex kept himself "happy" when alone for so many weeks at sea, a line of questioning that had Ms Kruger wondering what she'd got herself into. But worse was to come for the German actress when she was confronted by the Sportsvibe camera which, a few seconds into recording, automatically switched off, prompting her to say: "I can see you're a professional." Don't worry folks, we got her in the end and she will be pleased to know she has a best supporting role in a Sportsvibe film that also features Thomson, Foster and the mischievous Mr Coulthard.
