John Killingworth is a serial charity mararthon runner (including London, Berlin, and New York) and in November 2012 he will be running in the Ice Marathon - the world's toughest. It takes place in the icy wastes of of Antartica, at 80 degrees South and it's a race that has only been completed by 20 or so British people before. I am competing with the aim of raising over £50,000 for Breast Cancer Care.

In this blog, John will be detailing his training and related activities in the run up to his participation in the Ice Marathon. He will also aim to post his progress from Antartica. Hopefully some of his hints, tips, and experiences will be of interest to those of you undertaking or planning to undertake similarly misguided charity antics!!

Personal donations and pledges are welcome - just click the link or go to John's site at www.justgiving.com/johnkillingworth - thanks for the support.

10th - 16th Sept - Monday I was tired from the long run the day before. However I  thought it would be a good idea to shake the cobwebs off and do 5 miles. What a silly idea.   A very slow sluggish run forced a rest day Tuesday and Wednesday.
