Who is Boxing’s Undisputed Pound for Pound King?

floyd and manny

The boxing smorgasbord presented to us over the next couple of months will water the mouths of even the most fleeting boxing fans. Importantly for Sportsvibe, there is a large British contingent representing the nation on a global scale.

Whilst the upcoming Haye v Harrison bout promises little international interest, it will offer the first all-British heavyweight title clash since Lennox Lewis took on Frank Bruno in 1993.

The increasingly impressive Amir Khan squares up with Marcos Maidana in a mandatory defense of his WBA title, Carl Froch takes on Arthur Abraham as part of the Super Six World Boxing Classic and promising new boy Dereck Chisora has an unexpected punt at a world title against the ever-forceful Wladimir Klitschko.

Brits aside, seven-division and nine-time world champion Manny Pacquiao takes on disgraced former WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito for the vacant WBC Super Welterweight title. Other enticing fights include Sergio Garbriel Martinez v Paul Williams, Juan Manuel Marquez v Michael Katsidis and Jean Pascal v Bernard Hopkins.

In addition Andre Berto, Kelly Pavlik, Andre Ward, Chris John, Nonito Donaire and Tavoris Cloud will all be in action over the next few months.

With the inevitable tendency of boxers to duck and dive fights, the obvious limitations of weight divisions and the numerous contractual obstacles that face any potential fight, it is often difficult to decide who is the best of the best.

Dismissing the idea of a Royal Rumble-esque showdown, the Sportsvibe office laboured over hours of discussion in taking on the eternal question facing the world of boxing; who is the greatest pound-for-pound boxer out there?

Well, for what it is worth, here is our list:

1)    Floyd Mayweather Jr.
2)    Manny Pacquiao
3)    Juan Manuel Marquez
4)    Lucian Bute
5)    Fernando Montiel
6)    Paul Williams
7)    Sergio Gabriel Martinez
8)    Nonito Donaire
9)    Wladimir Klitschko
10)  Yuriorkis Gamboa

Do you agree with the list? Is there someone we have overlooked? With so many of our 10 competing over the coming months, will the list change?

We would love to hear your thoughts.
