Sportsvibe's Team of the Year: Charlie Morgan

So, as quickly as it began back in August, the Barclays Premier League campaign has reached its final weekend. Here at Sportsvibe, we think that it is only fair that our go-to pub conversation is aired for all to see.

With this in mind, each one of us will be picking our team of the year from the Premiership's outstanding performers.

Given that the season has been truly topsy-turvy, with the only real certainty being Arsenal's continuing allergy to silverware, the debate could get violent. Let's hope so, anyway.

There was so much head-scratching involved in my selection process that, by the time the final eleven names had been inked, I had contracted a serious bout of dandruff.

Unperturbed, my players were arranged into a beautifully fluid (read: flimsy) 3-5-2 formation. This was for three reasons.

1. I couldn't justify a back four on the basis that no right-back has come close to matching Leighton Baines' superb efforts on Everton's left over the course of the season.

2. No team managed by me are going to play boring football. No way.

3. I don't really know what I'm on about here. I'm more of an egg-chaser, really.

Here we go then:

Ben Foster: Finally emerged from the periphery role he played at Old Trafford to prove himself as a fantastic athlete. Has made some stunning saves and, if Birmingham do manage to stay up, it will be largely because of him.

Robert Huth: Has been the rock on which Tony Pulis has built a brilliant season. Uncompromising and abrasive in defence, the big German has been on hand to score six League goals too.

Nemanja Vidic: Heading past Peter Cech to put Manchester United into a 2-0 lead two weeks ago, the Serbian epitomised an awesome year. Captain of the champions. Enough Said.

William Gallas: Harry Redknapp called his signing a "no-brainer" back in August and has been proved right. Unrivalled experience in the Premiership shored up Tottenham very nicely.

Gareth Bale: On the basis of his PFA award, the flying Welshman is the most feared performer in the league. If his peers reckon he's that good, who am I to argue with them.

Ryan Giggs: Impossible to qualify his influence in the middle of the park. Has seen it all, can do it all as well.

Jack Wilshere: Makes it despite letting a little bit of petulance creep in at the back end of the year. Very refreshing to have a young Englishman performing with class to match endeavour.

Rafael Van der Vaart: His movement and vision has been a breath of fresh air. Netting twice in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal, effectively the Gunners' title challenge, will have been enough to endear him to the White Hart Lane faithful forever.

Nani: Stepped into the boots of the injured Antonio Valencia with aplomb. All the old tricks harnessed by a new-found maturity and composure has yielded eighteen assists, with nine goals to boot.

Andy Carroll: A brace against Manchester City has been his only contribution since joining King Kenny in January, but who could forget his fantastic winter for Chris Hughton? Without his efforts, Newcastle would be struggling.

Peter Odemwingie: A true revelation. Electric showings have dragged West Brom to the top half of the table. Evidently, nice guys don't always finish last.
