A slightly silly story from England's opening batsman, Alastair Cook, who had just completed a 1K treadmill race in the City of London to promote the Standard Chartered Great City Race on July 16th. Cook, you will recall, smashed 160 in the second test against the West Indies last week at Durham, and this was despite the best efforts of the huge screens dotted around the picturesque ground. "I was only on around 6 or 7 after the first hour when my stats at Durham were suddenly flashed up on the two giant screens," Cook explained. "They told me that I'd played there four times, scored 22 runs in total, and that my best score was 13. You couldn't avoid seeing it because the screens are massive. I had to giggle at the timing of it. Luckily my stats up there might have improved a bit after my last effort." Maybe that's the way to win the Ashes. Each ground should flash the 5-0 whitewash scoreline when the Aussies smashed England in 2007, every half hour, on every day, at every test match. It seemed to work with Cook!
