The Night I Wore a Batman Mask and Miami Vice Shirt with Michael Lumb

Good to see Michael Lumb come into the England Twenty 20 and straightaway become a World Cup winner, especially as I actually played cricket with the guy for Yorkshire 9 years' ago on tour in South Africa. If he does not remember me as a cricketer Lumb will at least remember me for having to wear the tour "shirt" on a boozy night out in Cape Town, a hideous, multi-coloured, Hawaiian-style thing straight out of Miami Vice. This was awarded to me because that day, having batted alongside Anthony McGrath in a game against Boland in Hermanus I dived to avoid being run out and managed to hit myself on the head with my own bat, a "crime" which warranted the wearing of "the shirt" together with a batman mask. This caused much merriment to the rest of the Yorkshire squad, and much embarassment to me - which was the point! Anyway, congratulations to Michael and the rest of the England boys for finally winning a World Cup in cricket.
