Give Chiles a Break at Breakfast!

Adrian Chiles3

In true British manner Adrian Chiles is the latest TV star to be getting it in the neck for his presentation of "Daybreak," ITV's new breakfast show he co-anchors with Christine Bleakley.

There are three things to say about this: a): It's not Chiles but the content that needs looking at. b): He is a breath of fresh air in terms of presenting ITV's England and Champions League matches and would be even better if he was not cut off in his prime incessantly by commercials. And c): Adrian does not go from being one of the most highly sought after, popular and respected TV personalities in this country, to a figure to be knocked, overnight. The critics have got to give the guy time, and perhaps more pertinently his programme producers time to sort out teething problems that accompany any new show.

As a footnote it's great to see Jim Rosenthal back hosting football too, even if it is the Europa League on Channel 5. Class is class, and while the media continues to be infatuated with former sports stars presenting programmes, proper broadcast journalists like Jim are very few and far between.
