After watching Noel Gallagher from Oasis and Sergio Pizzorno from Kasabian pull the balls out of the velvet bag at the FA Cup 3rd round draw tonight from Wembley I have seen the future of FA Cup draws.
Somehow policed by Jim Rosenthal the two rock stars - all black leather and necklaces - appeared to be having a ball, giggling away and not quite believing that the ITV and the FA would take the gamble of having the two mischiefs in the studio with the responsibility of deciding the 3rd round fixtures.
The delight and almost childlike glee when Gallagher pulled out his beloved Manchester City to play away at Pizzorno's equally beloved Leicester City was the highlight of the draw, closely followed by Liverpool being drawn away to Manchester United.
"Shame they can't both be knocked out," Noel added, uttering the kind of statement you have never heard before on such an occasion.
Now that the precedent has been set surely it is only a matter of time before old Elton himself - all tiaras and Watford scarves - is invited to put his hand in between the balls?
