The one innocent party in the whole sexism in football row that has dominated the week's back pages (and in some cases front pages) is official Sian Massey, yet today, for the second time this week, she has been prevented from officiating a football match because of the attention she will receive from both the media and the fans.
In essence, because two berks said things that they shouldn't have said, and a major media organisation has quite clearly a number of agendas, Sian's ability to both earn a living and better herself in her chosen profession, is being severely compromised.
The way I see it, the longer you prevent Sian from continuing her, on all accounts, excellent work, the bigger the whole episode becomes, as if it is not already major. Don't you think Sian's been subjected to attention and abuse for much of her adult life working the lines from the morons in football grounds who find it funny to shout at her?
Don't you think she's clearly more than capable of handling herself? And don't you think she she should have worked last Tuesday night at the League Two game between Crewe and Bradford? Maybe it might have been a testing night for her, but then it would be over. Today's Blue Square Bet North League game between Corby Town and Eastwood Town might also have been a mite uncomfortable, but it would get less and less as each game passes, especially as it appears that 98% of the population are heavily on her side.
Instead the controversy will continue to rage and the spotlight will be on Sian Massey even more as a result of her being prevented in doing her job for whenever she makes her comeback.
