Can someone please tell me what is going in with the Barclays Premiership this season?
OK, so you could argue that the usual suspects are, more or less, in the expected positions - Chelsea top, Man U second, Arsenal 3rd, Man City 4th with Spurs breathing down everyone's necks while Wolves and Wigan are in the bottom three. But the results continue to be crazy.
Chelsea thrashed at home by Sunderland? Arsenal losing when two-up v Spurs, having lost at home to West Brom and the Toon? Man Utd may be unbeaten but look well off their usual pace. Man City? Well no-one's convinced. And Spurs? Still too inconsistent to be serious challengers. What the hell are Bolton doing up there? Respect to Owen Coyle, but they must be getting nose bleeds. Newcastle put five past Sunderland and win at the Emirates, then concede five at Bolton? Sunderland thrashed by the Toon and then thrash Chelsea away? Liverpool remain terrible away from home, Stoke thrashing West Brom away who won at the Emirates? Like I said, crazy!
On the basis that I can find no logical reason for these results at all I am going to plump for the old favourite. Global warming! There, glad we've worked it out.
