In typical fashion Bernie Ecclestone was back at his office on the south side of Hyde Park first thing Thursday morning, this despite being punched and kicked to the ground during a mugging the previous evening which saw his "brave" assailants run off with around £200,000 worth of jewellery. Ecclestone, no doubt complaining about it being a waste of time, was taken to hospital for a few checks after he received some blows to the head, and a few cuts. I was very shocked to hear this news, especially as I had spent two hours in the Formula One ringmaster's company earlier that same day. He certainly would not have wanted any fuss, although I am pretty sure he received it, nonetheless, the next day. There is too much work to be done, too many problems to solve, too many challenges to meet head on for the octogenarian to bother about what he would see as a minor scrape. Besides, if he was asked who he felt the muggers were, I would hazard a guess that his mischievous reply would be: "Dunno, but you could fill Silverstone with the suspects." It seems that, rather like Rasputin, it's going to take a great deal more than a mugging to see off Bernard Charles Ecclestone.
