World F1 Champion, But Dodgy Singer!

Chequered Flag

I make no apologies for blogging about Jenson Button for the second time this week but after hearing his euphoric if dodgy rendition of Queen's "We are the Champions" over his car radio moments after securing the world drivers' title in Sao Paulo today I wanted to share a secret with you: it's not the first time he has sung in public! A year ago JB was at his favourite warm weather training centre, Lanzarote's Club La Santa, where he likes to compete in triathlons which help him become one of the fittest drivers on the F1 grid. At the end of a few days hard graft JB, his mates and yours truly sunk a few beers in a bar that boasted a karaoke competition. While the rest of us embarassed ourselves by murdering a series of well-known songs (sorry to "Take That" for my cheesy "Back for Good) JB sat quietly in the corner taking it all in. But even he could not turn down the last song of the night, Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars." As it turns out the rest of F1 has been chasing Jenson's car for much of the season, which is why the British star is tonight celebrating the achievement of a lifelong dream.
