Jaguar Begins to Deliver on Young, British Sporting Talent.

jag3

Hats off to Jaguar whose Academy of Sport hosted its inaugural Awards dinner on Sunday night inside the iconic Long Room at Lords cricket ground.

Over the course of the evening one was able to rub shoulders with an array of famous, high-achieving sporting stars from the past and the present, ranging from Sir Ian Botham and Gareth Edwards, to Denise Lewis, Jess Ennis, Colin Jackson, Dame Kelly Holmes, Barry McGuigan, Mark Foster, AP McCoy, Tasha Danvers, Jamie Baulch and many more.

As impressive were the messages of support and apologies for absences from the likes of David Beckham in LA, Sir Steve Redgrave from the rowing world championships in New Zealand, and Rio Ferdinand.

Yet for me - and I don't want to sound syrupy about this, but genuine - the highlights of the night were the sight of our young sports stars receiving the plaudits, awards and bursaries.

Just imagine being a teenager and standing there on stage in the Long Room being eulogised by famous sports stars alongside you. Talk about motivation.

The roll of honour on Sunday night was as follows - Sheree Cox, Kelsie Gibson, Jade Jones, Tom Allan and Grace Reid.

Look out for these names and many more that the Jaguar Academy of Sport intend to support and play their part in promoting the very best of young, British sport.
