It can be quite irksome when you have been a very successful sports star and yet become instantly better known for something you did on telly, but this appears to be happening more and more. Take Kareem Abdul Jabbar, for example, the former basketball star whom Sportsvibe TV interviewed for a film we will run next week. The man who, arguably, is the second most famous basketball player of all time behind Michael Jordan was saying how many more people seem to know him as Leslie Nielsen's hapless co-pilot in "Airplane" than for his slam dunking. Kyran Bracken will vouch for this. He may have won a rugby world cup with England, have an MBE to his name as a result, and captained England as well, but the general public seem to know him much more for winning ITV's "Dancing on ice" the other year. Now Ben Foden's joined the gang. England's best full-back has enjoyed a wonderful season for club and country but, as he explained to me before boarding the plane for Australia, his appearance alongside girlfriend and "The Saturdays" star Una Healy in the front row of the TV studio for "An Audience With Michael Buble" has resulted in a far greater reaction than when he plays for England. "I received hundreds and hundreds of texts after I was seen clapping away to Michael Buble," said Foden. "That's loads more than after I've played for England."
