I make no apology for returning to the subject of Matt Hampson, the former Leicester Tiger and England Under 21 prop forward who is wheelchair bound and breathing with the use of a ventilator following a horrific accident during England training three years ago. Sportsvibe are unashamed supporters of this young man because of the incredible fortitude and spirit he has revealed since, not wallowing in the duff hand life has dealt him, but seizing whatever positives he can out of the mess and, in doing so, inspiring so many other spinal injury sufferers and others through the patronage of various charities, as well as coaching kids, writing columns and generally living life to the full. Yesterday I joined Hambo and 70 others as we walked along the Thames as part of the now annual Walk4Hambo walk which follows the country's canals and waterways from Rugby to Twickenham in time for today's Guinness Premiership final which, for the sixth successive time, involves his beloved Tigers. It's easy to spare a moment to think about Hambo before we get on with our full lives, but remember Matt's battle is 24/7 and will be for the foreseeable future until, God-willing, research is complete enough to piece together his shattered spinal cord.
