Bikes for Africa, a non profit organisation set up to help Aids orphans in South Africa has collected more than 200 bikes to help the children and young men who have to travel considerable distances every day just to attend school or work.
The bikes encourage these children to stay in education and therefore have a chance of gaining a better job in the future. For the young adults who have started work it means they can use their meagre wages on essentials rather than spending their earnings on getting to and from work. Bikes will also be given to care workers who regularly visit the sick and administer aid.
The organisation is now looking for contributions towards the transportation costs of the containers and is hoping to raise in excess of £3,000. If you would like to make a donation then contact Jane Rooke whose details are listed on the website.
