Ashely Williams is set to become the centre of a summer transfer tussle between Arsenal and Liverpool after his impressive form this season.
Williams was an integral part of the Swansea team that reached the Capital One Cup final last night and with both Arsenal and Liverpool keen to bolster their defence the Welsh captain has become their number one target.
Brendan Rodgers knows Williams well from his time at the Liberty Stadium and will hope that will be a key factor in landing the centre back.
But the Anfield boss is likely to make a move for centre-back Williams at the end of this season, once that transfer embargo with his old club has expired.
Wenger is a big admirer of Williams and, like Rodgers, is looking for more stability in defence, with the Wales captain being viewed as a viable option for the Gunners.
Williams signed a new three-year contract last October, but Swansea are understood to be bracing themselves for a flurry of bids in the summer.
