Arsene Wenger has admitted that Arsenal are in advanced talks over signing France Under-21 international Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre.
The 20-year-old is currently out of contract with the club and the Arsenal boss is confident the deal will be closed.
"We are advanced with him, but it is not done," Wenger told The Guardian. "I am very confident. He is a young striker who is promising, and has a big talent."
Arsenal have a reported £100million to spend in the transfer window but Wenger would not be moved on whether the club will target Rooney.
"That is not even a question at the moment. We have not gone into that. At the moment we have no interest in anybody, we have only one interest and that is of course Sunday's game."
