Gonzalo Higuain's future has taken another dramatic twist as he revealed that Jose Mourinho wants to take him to Chelsea this summer.
Arsenal were confident that they were going to bring Higuain to the Emirates Stadium in a deal worth around £27 million.
However since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti the deal has stalled and it now appears that the Gunners have set their sights on Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
It also appears that Chelsea are ready to capitalise on the Gunners switch of attentions and are ready to move for the Argentinian.
“Mourinho wants me to go there [Chelsea],” Higuain told AS. “He wants me to join him at Chelsea.”
Mourinho is on the lookout for another striker to add to the Blues ranks, but had stressed earlier this week that Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney was his only target.
However, the Special One worked closely with Higuain at Madrid, and the pair are known to enjoy a close relationship.
As well as Arsenal, Chelsea will also face competition from Napoli if they want to pull of the signing of the Argentine, after the Italian club confirmed they are in talks with Madrid earlier this week.
