Dalglish: Liverpool Will Continue Spending Big

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has revealed that he fully believes the club’s new owners, the Fenway Sports Group, will continue to invest heavily in the reconstruction of the team.

Dalglish expressed his delight over the recent investment seen at Anfield, following the record-breaking signings of Ajax forward Luis Suarez for 22.7 million and Newcastle’s Andy Carroll for a colossal 35 million.

However, the heavy investment had to come at a price, with the Premier League record sale of 50 million for Fernando Torres paving way for the acquisition of attacking reinforcements.

"The owners have been fantastically supportive during this window, which was busy but I think very beneficial to the football club," Dalglish revealed.

"In fact they may be slightly disappointed they didn't get someone else.”

Spending close to 60 million on their new attacking frontline, Liverpool had also turned their attention to Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam. As a deal fell through, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp also tried to hijack the bid, but the Scottish midfielder remained at Bloomfield Road.

The interest displayed by the club in additional players assured Dalglish that the club will continue to invest when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

“Anyone who had any doubts about hunger or anybody taking this club forward, they're gone now,” Dalglish reaffirmed.

"In the summer we'll be looking forward to trying to enhance what we've got."
