Manchester United Hoping to Tempt Van Persie Away from Arsenal

Arsenal know that they will face a battle on their hands in the summer to keep star striker Robin van Persie, with Manchester United the latest club linked with the Dutch hit-man.

Van Persie has been in sensational form all season as he has scored 35 goals in all competitions and was named both the Football Writers and PFA Player of the Year.

The Holland international has just one-year remaining on his current contract at Arsenal and their French manager Arsene Wenger is aware that there will be interest from around Europe.

However, Talksport believes that the interest will come from closer to home as they believe that Manchester United are ready to make an offer for the free-scoring striker.

Arsenal have previously lost two of their regular first team players to Manchester City when Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri joined Roberto Mancini's side last summer, and it would be a bitter blow if Van Persie was to remain in the Premier League with another club.

With Manchester United facing the very real possibility of losing their Premier League crown to Manchester City next weekend, Sir Alex Ferguson will certainly be looking to strengthen his squad.
