Porto Begin Mangala Talks To Stop Man City Move

Porto have started negotiations with defender Eliaquim Mangala over the possibility of signing a new contract in order to stop Premier League giants Manchester City from finally completing a deal.

TalkSport reports that City are considering a £38million bid to beat Manchester United and Chelsea to the French star in the final few days of the current transfer window.

Reports in Portugal suggest Porto president Pinto da Costa is unwilling to let the 22-year-old leave this month but is open to a summer transfer with Porto amidst a tough title battle with Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.

If reports of a Manchester City bid are true, they would match the club’s record transfer fee paid for Sergio Aguero in 2011.

TalkSport reveals that Porto will meet with the player’s agent in the next day and will have to decide whether they will offer him a new deal or allow him to leave in the summer.
