Wenger In The Hunt For Gaitan

Wenger In The Hunt For Gaitan

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is said to be chasing Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan, according to reports.

In recent weeks the Gunners have been linked with Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas, Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Everton’s Marouane Fellaini, after chief executive Ivan Gazidis said that Wenger had a serious amount of money available to him.

And, according to the Metro reports in Portugal say Benfica’s exciting young playmaker Gaitan is the latest star attracting Arsenal’s attention.

The 25-year-old Argentinian has been linked in the past with a move to Manchester United but it is now thought the Gunners are leading the chase.

However, a move for Gaitan would really put Gazidis’ vow to the test as it is believed Benfica would only do business once the huge £40million release clause is triggered in their star-man’s contract.

Gaitan helped the Eagles to the Europa League final last season where they were eventually beaten by Chelsea.
