Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is preparing to step up his pursuit of a new striker and has set his sights on Rangers Nikica Jelavic, according to reports on Skysports.com.
Since arriving from Rapid Vienna last summer the 26-year-old scored 19 goals in his debut campaign for the Scottish Premier League club and so far this season he has netted 14 goals so far.
Rangers reportedly rejected last minute bids for Jelavic on transfer deadline day in August from Championship side Leicester and Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.
However the SPL league leaders are expecting more interest in the Croatian striker once the January transfer window opens for business with Premier League sides Liverpool and West Brom keen on acquiring Jelavic’s services.
Jelavic could be tempted to make the move move to the Premier League as he currently on the out skirts of the Croatian international side ahead of Euro 2012 but playing for a Premiership side could see him included in the Croatian starting XI.
Rangers will not want to lose one of their prized assets in the New Year but if a big money offer comes in from either Liverpool or West Brom they may have to sell due to their ongoing financial problems.
