Celtic Plan to Bring Republic of Ireland Striker Back to Parkhead

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is preparing to offer Robbie Keane a sensational return to Parkhead on a two-month loan deal, according to reports in The Scottish Sun.

Keane moved from Premier League side Tottenham to LA Galaxy in the summer and helped the Major League Soccer side win the title. The Republic of Ireland international is available on loan for two-months during the MLS off season, and the forward is currently back training with Spurs.

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is also a huge admirer of Keane and it is believed the Midlands club and the player are in advanced talks with regards to a move.

Keane’s representatives have been told about the interest from Celtic and it is another option for the for the 31-year-old to consider.

During the 2009-2010 campaign Keane spent five months on loan at Celtic in which he scored 16 goals in 19 appearances and was voted Celtic’s Fans’ Player of the Year.

When he previously signed for the Hoops, Keane said: “The club is brilliant, I am a Celtic fan. I always wanted to play for Celtic.”
