Cleverly In World Title Talks

By in News

Welsh boxer Nathan Cleverly has confirmed that he has entered into preliminary discussions with WBA light-heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer over a potential bout.

The former world champion was on the verge of retiring from the sport after losing to bitter rival Tony Bellew in November, with the fight a rematch between the two.

Cleverly won the initial fight but failed to replicate the same result, but according to the BBC the 27-year-old is now set to take on an unnamed opponent in Leeds on April 11.

Should the Caerphilly-born star emerge victorious from his bout, promoter Eddie Hearn is confident that he will be able to secure a world title shot for Cleverly.

The Welshman was due to meet the German champion in the past, but Braehmer had to pull out of the fight after suffering an injury to his eye.

It has been hard for the British fighter to come back from his defeat to the Bomber, but there is no doubt he will return looking to bolster his reputation once again.
