The BBC have reported that the British number one had to come from a set down against the Czech, who before today had not topped a single set in the competition. Murray looked to be in trouble when his opponent took the first on a tie break, but stormed back into the tie to complete a 6-7(6-8) 6-0 6-3 7-5 win.

The victory will see the Scot take part in his eighth Grand Slam final, with Murray set to take on the winner of tomorrowÛªs second semi-final clash between Novak Djokovic and current champion Stan Wawrinka.

29-year-old Berdych, who is now working with MurrayÛªs former coach Dani Vallverdu, had eased past Rafa Nadal in the quarter-finals but failed to replicate the same impressive performance this time out.

The two exchanged a few choice words after the Czech complained about the balls in a tension-filled opening set. After losing the first, MurrayÛªs game improved and his opponent could not deal with his fired-up performance.

British tennis fans will now be hoping Murray can claim his first Grand Slam win under new coach Amelie Mauresmo.
