The Dutchman suffered an injury during United‰Ûªs 2-1 defeat away at Swansea and left the Liberty Stadium on crutches and wearing a protective strapping on his foot.

It means Van Persie will miss the forthcoming Premier League games against North East rivals Sunderland and Newcastle, plus the FA Cup quarter-final with Arsenal at Old Trafford on 9 March, according to the latest reports at the BBC.

Good news for United fans, however, is that they welcome back instrumental midfielder Michael Carrick back after a six weeks absence through injury.

The Red Devils have only lost one game in which the 33-year-old former West Ham and Spurs man has played this campaign.
