England Target Would Need Persuading
The favourite to take over from Peter Moores in charge of the England cricket side this summer has admitted the ECB will have to persuade him to take on the role.

Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie is widely regarded by many as the man who will take the reigns ahead of the Ashes, with new director of cricket Andrew Strauss tasked with replacing Moores, who he sacked over a week ago.

The former Australian fast bowler helped Yorkshire claim a famous County Championship title last year, and with his fellow countryman Justin Langer all but ruling himself out of the role, Gillespie is the hot favourite.

According to the BBC, the 40-year-old has confirmed that he will have to be persuaded to leave Yorkshire, but he also admitted that the role is his dream job.
åÊ
Gillespie said: “It’s very humbling, very flattering.
åÊ
“The Yorkie boys have been giving me enough grief about it, which has been quite funny. But I haven’t had any contact and until that happens I can’t say anything.
åÊ
“We’ll just have to wait and see. Strauss mentioned my name publicly, so I may get a call. It’s just fantastic [at Yorkshire], but I don’t know what the future holds.”
åÊ
Moores was sacked after a disastrous few months which saw England fail at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and then limp to a 1-1 draw with West Indies in a three-match Test series.
