Klitschko’s Fury Will Silence Tyson Fury
Not long now until the somewhat tiresome run up to the Klitschko-Fury pre-bout bull is over and Wladimir Klitschko puts Tyson Fury in his place.åÊ

Now, IÛªm all for stirring up interest. My biggest sporting idol of all time is Muhammad Ali as, I suspect, he is to many of you too. There were times when he over-stepped the mark, especially with Joe Frazier, but mostly his pre-fight barbs were clever and/or funny. Oh, and he had a certain right to say what he liked, too, bearing in mind he was ÛÏThe Greatest.ÛåÊ

Not so Fury. IÛªm not quite sure what he has achieved, except uttering nonsense and, at times, offensive nonsense. As always some have bought this. Some truly believe he will beat a man who has never received the credit he deserves. And there is a truism in the fact that in heavyweight boxing a big man with a big punch always has a chance.åÊ

But enough of Fury. Klitschko will go down as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. Yes, really. DonÛªt take it from me. Take it from the world of boxing. He may not be that popular, he may not have a string of street-fighting knockouts to his name, and he may not have beaten a host of household names, but to have won 64 out of 67 professional fights, and to have last lost in 2004, receives nothing but admiration from his peers.åÊ

Longevity in boxing tells. As does guile. We heard it all before from David Haye and look what a chump Klitschko made of him. I suspect the UkrainianÛªs jab will soon sort Fury out and the sport will sigh with relief. It is not that heavyweight boxing couldnÛªt do with a change.åÊ

Domination, without rivalry, is boring. But itÛªs not coming yet, not until Anthony Joshua completes his impressive apprenticeship and is ready to become world champion in a year to 18 monthsÛª time. By then the intelligent, multi-lingual Klitschko will have the sense to bow out, leaving the door ajar for Joshua and the hard-hitting Deontay Wilder to slug it out. Despite the AmericanÛªs record ÛÒ 35 fights, 35 wins, 34 KOÛªs ÛÒ my moneyÛªs on Joshua, in the same way it is not on Fury come Saturday night.
