David Haye Says He Will Fight Anthony Joshua In Early 2017
Veteran former WBA heavyweight world champion David Haye has laid out his plans for a possible fight with the newly crowned IBF heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua.

The 35-year-old takes on undefeated Swiss heavyweight fighter Arnold Gjergjaj on May 21, and believes that there is no fighter on the planet that would be able to teach Joshua what he will need to defeat him, according to the Daily Mirror.

Joshua is just coming off the back of an impressive two-round victory over Charles Martin at the weekend (via Guardian) and is already being talked up for some big fights against the likes of Haye and Tyson Fury (via Sky Sports).

But Haye is seemingly hoping to get his hands on British boxing’s hottest prospect before Fury does, and even thinks he will have too much ability for the 26-year-old to handle.

“Those shots Joshua landed [on Charles Martin], he couldn’t land on me, Haye said. “I could see them coming. I could see openings where I would set him up.”
åÊ
“I don’t believe there’s anyone in the world who could teach him the lessons he’s going to need to fight me. I’m quietly confident.”
åÊ
However, fans may be in for a long wait as Haye is happy to put the meeting off until next year as he wants to see Joshua defend his IBF title before they clash so it will make the occasion much bigger (via Metro).
