There was success for Tenerife at the World Luxury Spa Awards, in Vietnam, when the YHI SPA at Meliá Hacienda del Conde won the award for Spain’s top ‘Luxury Golf Resort Spa’.
The event – which provides “true recognition to luxury spas … (and) the true value of service excellence” – was held at the spectacular JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi, with more than 180 guests from upwards of 50 countries.
And the YHI SPA, at the stunning, five-star Meliá Hacienda del Conde, fought off the challenge of all other Spanish golf and spa resorts to land the prestigious title.
The resort’s general manager, Juan Jose Moreno, said: “We are truly delighted to receive this recognition for our YHI Spa, the icon of our wellbeing experience that makes our resort in Tenerife the ultimate hideaway to unwind and recalibrate mind and body in an unparalleled setting.”
Meliá Hacienda del Conde is an adults-only boutique hotel, which overlooks the Seve Ballesteros-designed Buenavista golf course and the ocean. It boasts 117 rooms and suites, infinity pools, three restaurants, two bars, the award-winning YHI Spa and the exclusive The Level, an upgraded experience for personalised service.
The 18-hole, par-72 course – located in the north-west corner of the island, in the region of Daute Isla Baja – has an even split of six par-threes, six par-fours and six par-fives, and measures 6,582 yards from the championship tee markers.
Meliá Hacienda del Conde and Buenavista Golf are perfectly integrated with the natural environment with the hotel built and decorated in colonial Canary Islands style. It is 60 km from Tenerife Norte Airport and 69km from Tenerife Sur Airport.
Average summer temperatures of 23°c on Tenerife provide the ideal climate to enjoy a relaxing golf break thanks to cooling trade winds; while – in contrast to almost everywhere else – golf and hotel rates are generally 20 per cent cheaper than in winter time.
Tenerife features nine different and varied layouts: Buenavista, Real Club de Golf de Tenerife in the north, and Golf Costa Adeje, Abama, Las Americas,Golf del Sur, Amarilla, and Los Palos in the south. Tecina Golf is a 40-minute ferry ride from the mainland on the beautiful island of La Gomera.
The island also offers 70km of beaches and a wide range of cultural highlights and activities both on and off the water, making it the ideal location for a golf break. Tenerife is served by two airports – Tenerife North and Tenerife South – with flight times of around four-and-a-half hours from the UK.
