New Line of Craft Board Shapes Includes Splits and Solids to Meet the Needs of Any Rider

Monday, August 21, 2017 — Weston Snowboards – a craft board shaper based in the mountains of Colorado – announces the launch of its 2017/18 line of boards, including new and redesigned solid and splitboards.

The award-winning Backwoods, Big Chief, and Range boards are back with sleek, updated graphics. The Logger, board of choice for 2016 Burton US Open Champion Kyle Mack, is back as well with a fresh makeover. New to the line is The Riva, Weston’s first board designed specifically for women, and taking inspiration from the many qualities of the Backwoods board in terms of shape and dimensions but adjusted to better suit the needs of women. With the addition of the Riva, Weston will join only a small handful of brands to produce a women’s specific splitboard.

The numbers for traditional snowboarding are down, but the numbers for splitboarding and backcountry riding are up by 28%. Weston wants this number to keep increasing, and the team is working to support this growth by connecting with the riding community on a personal level and by offering their twice monthly backcountry meetups, where the Weston team – all avalanche certified by AIARE – guides riders through impressive terrain in Colorado’s high country. Weston’s signature 1970’s Tucker Sno-Cat, a bright orange beast of a machine, is often along to bring the fun to a new level.

New/redesigned 17/18 boards from Weston:

The BackwoodsThe Colorado Rockies offer a variety of terrain, so Weston designed a board for the rider that wants the ultimate one-board, freeride quiver. The Backwoods floats effortlessly in powder and is quick edge to edge for steep, tight tree runs. Images.
Solid: $599
Splitboard: $899

The Riva: Named after the iconic Riva Ridge that was stormed by the 10th Mountain Division, Weston’s first women’s specific board was created for those who test the limits of their gear in the same fashion. This board is capable of taking your riding to the next level, whether inbounds or out. More information about/images of The Riva hereImages.
Solid: $549
Splitboard: $899

The Logger The board of choice for 2016 Burton US Open Champion, Kyle Mack, is back with a full update. This unique board carries the longstanding heritage of riding natural features in Beaver Creek, Colorado. The Logger’s new “flat-camber” profile is 95% flat on the base creating a strong locked in feel and consistency that is a necessity on natural and park features. The Logger is designed for those who look at any object and wonders how to jib it. Images.
Solid only: $499

The Big ChiefMade to conquer Colorado’s 14ers while still surfing deep snow, this big mountain profile is the stiffest and dampest ride in Weston’s lineup. The Big Chief is made to ensure complete control in those couloirs above treeline. Images.
Solid: $549
Splitboard: $899
