Redstrike, the International sports marketing agency, and Football Focus Asia have announced the official opening of the PVF Academy (Promotion Fund of Vietnamese Football Talents), an ambitious project to develop Vietnam’s sporting infrastructure ahead of a planned bid to co-host the FIFA World Cup in Asia.

The Academy goal is to drive Vietnam to 2030 FIFA World Cup qualification, through a state-of-the-art football academy, close to Hanoi in Vietnam – officially opened on 20 November, 2017. The programme will help drive Vietnam’s climb up the FIFA World Rankings from its current 121stposition, by developing its brightest young footballing talents from its population of over 92 million.

Redstrike and Football Focus Asia have brought together an internationally recognised group, led by former Managing Director of Manchester United FC International, Mike Farnan, alongside former Sheffield United and Leicester City guru Terry Robinson and former Leeds United and Sheffield United Manager, Kevin Blackwell.

Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes add further global footballing experience to this exciting venture, with Giggs becoming the Academy’s Director of Football – a role which will see him visit the Academy on numerous occasions throughout the year.

Eight full-time staff, including coaches, sports scientists and nutritionists will compliment this world-class team, as well as assisting and developing Vietnamese staff in the coaching initiatives.

As part of the project, playing fields, accommodation and other rehabilitation and sports science facilities will be made available for up to 300 of the country’s most talented young footballers.

VinGroup, the vast Vietnamese conglomerate, is backing this exciting investment, the biggest ever of its kind in South East Asia
