Julia Simic has been voted the FA WSL PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month by football fans across the country. In a vote run by fan engagement experts, Snack Media, the West Ham United Women’s striker won a tightly-fought content, receiving 27% of the vote for December with Chelsea’s versatile Magdalena Eriksson taking second place.
In the final of five divisional votes carried out over eleven days via Snack’s digital and social networks and supported by top flight football clubs and press, it was clear that Simic’s strong performances – where she scored two goals in two matches to help her side remain undefeated throughout the festive season in the run-up to the New Year – resonated not just with Hammer fans, but with supporters of all teams.
The full list of contenders from the final shortlist polled were as follows – Julia Simic & Gilly Flaherty (both West Ham United Women), Magdalena Eriksson (Chelsea Women), Fara Williams (Reading FC Women) and Georgia Stanway & Ellie Roebuck (both Manchester City Women).
