Saints unveil new kits for 2019/20 with a mockumentary inspired by true events
Southampton Football Club has unveiled its brand new kits for the 2019/20 season. The club has released a mockumentary charting exactly how the kit launch could have gone, had an exuberant entrepreneur’s wishes come true with an epic celebration, the sorts of which had never before been seen on the Solent.
Saints stars including Danny Ings, Nathan Redmond and Angus Gunn can be seen modelling the new Southampton FC home, away, third and goalkeeper kits as part of the glamorous trailer for the pipedream Saynts Festival, showing off their football skills in an exotic Southampton location.
The mockumentary follows the adventure of Mbilly McFarmer, as he looks to create the first ever football kit launch on an exotic island in the Solent. Mbilly looks to bring the whole of Southampton Football Club together for the launch, featuring cameos from club figures including Academy graduate Yan Valery and Southampton FC Women captain Shelly Provan.
Southampton FC’s new home kit for 2019/20 sees the iconic red and white stripes returning on the front, accented with black shoulders and trim on the sleeves, as modelled by Maya Yoshida and Shelly Provan.
As modelled by striker Danny Ings, the new away kit has been produced with a grey body and contrasting volt-yellow shoulders and sleeve accents, making for a striking combination.
The third kit features a white body with blue shoulders, with eye-catching red geometric lines running across the width of the shirt.
In goal, Saints’ shot-stoppers, including Angus Gunn, will wear a sky blue home goalkeeper kit with matching shorts and socks. The away goalkeeper kit will be all pink.
The home, away and goalkeeper kits will be available to buy in store from 8am on Friday 28th June and will be available to pre order online from the Monday 20th May, as well as via click and collect.
A special Saynts festival themed launch event for fans and their families will take place at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday 29th June, and launch details for the third kit will be announced in the coming weeks.
Charlie Read, Head of Brand and Marketing at Southampton FC, said: “The launch of a new kit is always a highlight moment of the year for fans and players alike. This year’s home kit features the iconic red and white stripes that Southampton FC are known for. While Mbilly wasn’t able to sell in his ludicrous Saynts Festival pipedream, the club still wanted to create something unique to celebrate the launch of the new kits and give something back to our fans, which is why we will be hosting our own fan event at St Mary’s on Saturday 29th June.
