Marvellous Marvin Hagler – in his own words
The word ‘legend’ is one of the most overused terms in the world of sport, but that can be no doubt that Marvellous Marvin Hagler is one of the very few people who truly deserve to be given this accolade. His tragic passing last week aged only 66 has catapulted him and the whole 1980’s Middleweight division back into the forefront of the public’s sporting consciousness.
Marvellous Marvin was one of the greatest boxers of his era and possibly any era. In the mid-Eighties the middleweight division and the bands either side of it were the centre of the boxing world with Hagler vying with Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran and Tommy Hearns for a whole range of titles. It was possibly the most exciting time that world boxing has had, so take a few minutes and hear from one of the men himself. RIP Marvin
